- Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz became romantically linked in 2021.
- The stars have since gone public with their relationship and are now reportedly engaged.
- Tatum will star in the upcoming movie "Blink Twice," which marks Kravitz's directorial debut.
The film was originally called "Pussy Island," but was retitled "Blink Twice" in 2024.
Kravitz hadn't met Tatum prior to casting him in the film, which she spent five years cowriting and rewriting with E.T. Feigenbaum. However, they both voiced characters in the 2017 animated film "The Lego Batman Movie."
"Blink Twice" centers on a cocktail waitress named Frida and a billionaire tech mogul named Slater King (Tatum).
"Chan was my first choice, the one I thought of when I wrote this character," Kravitz told Deadline in June 2021. "I just knew from 'Magic Mike' and his live shows, I got the sense he's a true feminist and I wanted to collaborate with someone who was clearly interested in exploring this subject matter."
She shared similar comments months later in an interview with Elle, saying that she felt like Tatum would be "brave enough" to be part of the movie.
"You need to be so far from who this is, where it's not scary," she said. "And I don't think we've ever seen him play someone dark. I'm excited to see him do that."
Speculation occurred shortly after Kravitz filed for divorce from Karl Glusman, whom she wed in Paris on June 29, 2019.
E! News reported that the relationship rumor was not accurate and a source told People, "They're working together on an upcoming project and it's not true that they're dating."
Tatum's last known relationship was with the musician Jessie J, who he dated on and off from 2018 to 2020. He also shares a daughter named Everly with ex-wife Jenna Dewan, who he was married to from 2009 to 2018.
"When someone can just come out and tell me I should not be wearing Crocs and is so adamant about it, she completely convinced me and I never wear Crocs anymore," Tatum told Deadline.
"I was just trying to be a good friend, Chan," Kravitz replied.
Tatum said that he "totally loved Crocs for a hot second, and in one hang she was like, you can't ever do that again. And I said, 'OK, fine.'"
He added: "I feel cooler, and her point of view on me and Crocs was legit. She had a good argument. The one thing I can pull off is listening."
In mid-August, paparazzi caught Tatum riding a bike in New York City with Kravitz sitting behind him and her arms draped over his shoulders. Another photo showed the two stars walking together in the city on the same day.
"They are spending a lot of time together and having fun," an anonymous source told E! News. "They are more than just close friends or costars. Their relationship has grown into more."
Shortly after, they were seen smiling while drinking iced coffee in NYC.
On another occasion that month, Tatum and Kravitz were photographed exiting a supermarket in upstate New York with items like flowers, toilet paper, and a roasting pan.
They were seen again in Manhattan and Brooklyn, too. A source told People, "They spent the weekend in NYC, strolled around the city, met up with friends and visited the Guggenheim Museum. They looked very happy. They have this cute and flirty chemistry."
In late August, fans also noticed that Tatum was following several fan accounts dedicated to Kravitz on Instagram, including @zoekravitzsource and @kravitzupdate.
The event was held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the theme in 2021 was "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion."
Tatum and Kravitz walked the red carpet separately, with the "Magic Mike" star wearing a black Versace suit and the "High Fidelity" actor wearing a see-through Saint Laurent dress.
After leaving the event together, they went to the Cincoro Tequila Met Gala after-party hosted by Alicia Keys, People reported. A source told the publication that the stars "did not take their hands off of each other."
The actors were seen holding hands while walking together in NYC. Another image showed Tatum with his arm wrapped around Kravitz's shoulder.
Weeks later, a source told People that the stars are "more relaxed lately" and "don't seem to care about hiding their relationship anymore."
Tatum dressed as Travis Bickle (played by Robert De Niro) and Kravitz channeled Iris (Jodie Foster) from Martin Scorsese's classic 1976 movie "Taxi Driver."
The couple posted photos in their costumes on their Instagram stories.
In a cover story with Variety, Tatum said that he told Kravitz not to star in her directorial debut, "Blink Twice," based on the workload he experienced while codirecting and starring in the film "Dog."
"I was like, 'You'll need double the days,'" Tatum said. "She's a perfectionist in the best possible way."
Tatum was asked about his fashion evolution in a conversation with "21 Jump Street" costar Jonah Hill for a cover story for VMAN.
Tatum said that "dressing became a bit of a chore" when he moved to LA and he "just got over it." The actor said that when he took a break from acting a few years ago, he "really wanted to pay attention and figure out who I was."
"I went on a little bit of a journey trying to do Balenciaga and all this shit," he said. "And I was just like, 'This ain't me either. I don't know what the kids are doing these days.' And then some friends of mine, like you and Zo [Kravitz], were like, 'Why don't you just wear what you wear? Why don't you just be you?'"
He added: "You gave me some very specific style tips. I'm really enjoying finding my own voice and my own way with some very beautiful guardrails."
"I'm happy," Kravitz told Elle in a cover story for the March 2022 issue, in response to a comment about her joyful demeanor in paparazzi photos of herself with Tatum.
Momoa, who announced his split from Kravitz's mom Lisa Bonet in January 2022, posted two photos with Tatum on Instagram in March.
"SO EXCITED @channingtatum and I are on our way to see our ZOZO. finally @thebatman premiere. i'm so beyond proud of you @zoeisabellakravitz," the "Aquaman" star wrote.
Tatum and Momoa supported Kravitz at the premiere of the superhero movie in NYC on March 1, 2022. In an interview with People on the red carpet, Momoa said that he approved of Kravitz dating Tatum.
"He's wonderful," Momoa said.
Kravitz, Tatum, Momoa, and the kids he shares with Bonet (Lola and Nakoa-Wolf) were also photographed getting dinner together prior to the premiere of "The Batman."
Following the premiere, Tatum and Momoa were photographed by Jason Roman hanging out together at the "Batman" after-party.
According to an anonymous source who spoke to People, the two A-listers "have known each other through mutual friends for years."
"They run in similar circles and are both friends with a lot of stunt guys in the industry," the source said, adding that Momoa "supports" Kravitz and Tatum dating.
The following month, Kravitz and Tatum were photographed holding hands while walking in London.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, published in August 2022, Kravitz reiterated past comments about being interested in Tatum for her movie because he "hadn't played a dark character before" but she was confident that he was a fit for the part.
Tatum also told the publication that he didn't know Kravitz prior to meeting her for the movie.
"When we first met the movie was pretty different than its form now, but the themes were the same," he said. "All the iterations it has gone through were all pretty punk rock, to be honest."
Of her relationship with Tatum, Kravitz said: "Do I want to go into that? I guess what I'll say is when you make things with people it's a very sacred space, and when you're compatible with somebody creatively it often opens up other channels, because you're kind of sharing all of yourself."
"I'm really grateful that this movie has brought him into my life that way," she added.
"I have moments of being nervous," Kravitz told Elle. "But I know the story so well, and I'm trying to focus less on 'Am I going to do a good job?' and more on 'What is my intention?'"
Tatum told Vanity Fair that he met Kravitz for the first time after reading a draft of "Blink Twice" that didn't make it "clear yet" what kind of film it was supposed to be.
"She had passion in there, and she had a point of view that was really specific to who she was and what her experience was," he said. "But I wasn't sure it was clear yet, what it wanted to be."
"Literally, after that meeting, my life went how it did and we lost touch," Tatum added. "Then, cut to two and a half years later, they had a new draft, and it was great."
"That's the kind of person you want to create with," he said of Kravitz. "That really has this perspective they're constantly digging for."
As for his decision to follow various Kravitz fan accounts on Instagram, Tatum admitted that he has "no chill."
"I was just seeing what she was up to! Also, I didn't know anyone would know," he explained.
They were photographed at the rehearsal dinner in Long Beach Island alongside stars like Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, and Cara Delevingne.
Paparazzi also spotted the couple, drinks in hands, at the wedding in Beach Haven, New Jersey.
The couple wore all-black attire and held hands as they left the event. Before that, Kravitz sat in the front row of the brand's womenswear show as part of Paris Fashion Week.
Kravitz dressed as Rosemary Woodhouse from the horror movie "Rosemary's Baby" while Tatum wore a onesie and bonnet to resemble a baby.
Other famous guests included Megan Fox, Machine Gun Kelly, Robert Pattinson, and Suki Waterhouse.
Multiple sources told People that Tatum and Kravitz got engaged. Kravitz's apparent engagement ring was seen on her left hand when she attended Jenner's Halloween party.
The same day that the film's new title and release date (August 23) were announced, the couple gave fans a glimpse into the making of the movie.
"MISS DIRECTOR LADY HERSELF IN ACTION!! ABSOLUTELY CRUSHING IT. CAN'T WAIT FOR YALL TO SEE," Tatum captioned black-and-white photos and videos of Kravitz in filmmaker mode on set.
Kravitz posted a photo of a Polaroid of her and Tatum, an image of her sitting outside her trailer with actor Naomi Ackie, and a photo of her looking through a massive camera lens.
