Ashley Leeds has been training people on LinkedIn since 2018, and he’s helping them to get business from LinkedIn, with his 30 years of sales experience.

How did you get into your profession?

Purely by accident. With over 30 years in different sales roles, I am used to negotiation and marketing so after working with Accountants & Bookkeepers selling software with Digita and QuickBooks, moving into coaching Accountants & Bookkeepers seemed like the obvious next step.  When I started my new business in April 2021 I added LinkedIn to my portfolio of services, and this took off making me a well-known LinkedIn trainer in the Accountants & Bookkeepers space.

What do you love most about what you do? 

Helping people to gain confidence.  It may just be writing a LinkedIn post, but I’ve even worked with an accountant who has written a book from working with me.  Seeing his face when I showed him the finished article on Amazon was a great day.

What’s your biggest achievement?

Making a lovely home for my wife and two daughters. We are never given a manual on how to raise children or make a happy marriage so for me to get this far I think is pretty special. If you’re talking business related it was definitely starting my own business.  I love doing my own thing and helping whoever I like.

What one person or business in the industry do you really admire and why? 

That’s really not a fair question because there are so many. Each person on my list is there for very different things too. It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Zoe Whitman and Jo Wood. What they’re doing for our bookkeepers is just fantastic and this was echoed with what Caroline Hobden did to make them more welcome at this year’s Accountex with the Bookkeepers Zone.

How important is Accountex to you and the sector? 

I love Accountex.  It’s like my Christmas.  So great to just catch up with so many wonderful people from all walks of life within the industry.  It is so important that we have a home to share and meet other people and find out what is really happening in the industry.

It’s also important to me because it’s a great opportunity to have those chats in real life that we cannot have on Zoom. Living in Devon is fantastic, but a bit restrictive when you want to meet people. Coming to Accountex helps bridge that gap.
