Forbes called him a ‘A Game Changer’. He is the creator and author of Celebrity Service & Celebrity Service Superstars. Like you, Geoff Ramm knows that great customer service leads to lucrative, repeat business but a greater experience leads to global recognition.
We spent some time getting to know Geoff ahead of his session at Accountex…
- How did you get into the profession?
Oh great question! Around 25 years ago I was invited by my former Enterprise lecturer at Sunderland Uni to attend an event where they were having a business motivational guru (this was before Google so I had no idea what one of these were). His name was Tom Edge – and I was blown away by his passion and ideas. In the car on my way back home I thought ‘I’d love to do what he does’. The rest is history.
- What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Now this is a lovely and an easy question to answer. It’s the results. Days, weeks, months or even years after my talks I will hear from individuals or teams saying what they have achieved because of my session and ideas. Whether that’s increasing their NPS score, receiving higher tripadvisor or trust pilot ratings, or going on to win customer service awards and honors or securing a lot more business. It’s the results which is the most rewarding part for me. A speaker is not about the stories, the onstage performance – it should always be about the results. It is something I am proud of and so much so I dedicated a page just to this on my new website.
- What do you see as key trends for the accounting sector in the coming year?
I think we all know that systems, apps and online are slowly but surely taking over human interaction – yes accountants need to embrace this, but there has never been a greater time to deliver a more personalised (non-robotic) service experience.
- What are you most looking forward to at Accountex?
I’ve heard about Accountex for a long time, and I’ve often been tagged into posts, so it is fantastic to be speaking on the main stage this year. I am looking forward to the buzz of the room and judging by the comments on my last LinkedIn post – looking forward to meeting up with some clients inc Moneypenny, Valued, TAG, IRIS and CIMA (it’s a small world).
- What do you want visitors to take away from your sessions?
Is it too easy or corny to say inspiration? Hopefully, people will be inspired to think and deliver a greater service experience. What I will be sharing is a philosophy that will forever change your service mindset, but I will also reveal stories and ideas that your clients and potential clients will absolutely love you for (and have them talking about you for decades to come).
Geoff is hosting the talk ‘Celebrity service: Discover the gap in your client service you never knew existed‘ at 10-10.45am on the Main Stage on the 10 May.
