HORROR: Young Father Brutally Beaten to Death in Chicago – Four Suspects Still at Large

Police are searching for four suspects who fatally beat a young father in Chicago late last month.

Alexander “Xander” Kazanowski, 25, was brutally beaten in the early morning of Tuesday, March 24 in the Avondale neighborhood.

Chicago Police responded to the scene at around 3:20 am and saw a young male suffering from severe injuries to his head, Lake & McHenry County Scanner reported.

Kazanowski was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center and he later died on March 28 from blunt force trauma.

Xander Kazanowski was a father to a young daughter and had a son on the way.

Chicago police are searching for four people in connection with a man’s violent death on the Northwest Side last month.

The incident happened around 3:19 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, in the 3900 block of West Belmont Avenue in the Avondale neighborhood.

According to CPD, a man was found unresponsive on the ground with injuries to his head. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition and later died.

Cook County Crime Stoppers identified the victim as 25-year-old Alexander Kazanowski — Xander for short. His death was caused by blunt force trauma, consistent with a fatal beating, they said.

The suspects were described as three African American men, who at the time of the incident, one wore a black jacket, a black baseball hat, and blue jeans. The second man wore a black jacket, a white hooded sweatshirt, and black pants. The third man wore a blue jacket, blue jeans, and a brown winter hat.

They are also searching for a woman who police described as Asian and who wore a black jacket and white pants at the time.

“Surrounded by the family he so dearly loved, Xander Kazanowski, 25, of Chicago, went to eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 28th, 2026. No description could possibly do justice to Xander’s character. He possessed a natural charisma that enlivened every room he entered. Truly one of a kind, he was a rare example of a man who had the resolve to carve his own path and live entirely on his own terms. Our hearts are absolutely shattered by the profound tragedy of losing such an irreplaceable personality at such a young age,” Xander’s obituary read.

“Though we grieve the many chapters of his life that will now go unwritten, we are forever grateful for the wonderful gift of having had him as a Son, Father, Partner, Brother, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend. Xander will forever be with us through countless memories and the lasting impact he leaves behind,” it said.

“Xander’s legacy lives on through his daughter, Thea, and his expected son, John. He is survived by his partner, Tori Zanoni; his parents, John and Jan Kazanowski; his siblings, Christian (Stephanie) and Kimberly. He is also held in the hearts of many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a brotherhood of friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ken & Dorothy Cobe and Dan & Dina Kazanowski, with whom he is now reunited in eternal peace,” the obituary said.
