During CNN’s town hall, socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was left destroyed after a young audience member boldly challenged him on the ongoing government shutdown, delivering a brutal fact-check that completely wrecked the socialist senator and exposed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s failed leadership.
When the questioner asked Sanders how the shutdown reflected on Schumer’s leadership, Sanders immediately tried to shift the blame to President Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, blaming anyone but his own corrupt party.
Rohan Naval:
Thank you for your time, Senator. How do you think this shutdown reflects on Chuck Schumer’s leadership?Bernie Sanders:
Well, I think it reflects more on Mike Johnson’s leadership and President Trump’s leadership. This is a leadership which said it’s okay to give a—well, how do you feel? You tell me. You think it’s a good idea to give a trillion dollars in tax breaks to the richest people in the country and then make massive cuts to health care for working-class people?
But the young questioner wasn’t buying it. Calmly but firmly, he fired back with cold, hard facts.
Rohan Naval:
I think Chuck Schumer has voted for continuing resolutions 13 times in the last four years, and he has the opportunity to vote for one again, but he’s refusing to come to the table.Bernie Sanders:
I think—look, as I have said, there are 53 Republicans in the Senate, correct? They need 60. What does that mean? It means you have to talk to the other side. Mike Johnson is not talking, John Thune is not talking, President Trump is not talking. That is the problem.

Over the last four years, Congress enacted 13 continuing resolutions (CRs), and Schumer consistently voted YEA on all of them.
During the weekend, House Speaker Mike Johnson appeared on “Fox News Sunday” to discuss the continued shutdown of the federal government, which began on October 1st.
Johnson explained that the Democrat party is intentionally keeping the government closed to support their Marxist base.
“The President himself offered to Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries in the Oval Office, when I and leader Thune were sitting next to him that he would have that thoughtful debate. That is for [Monday] as soon as we get the government open,” Johnson explained the Republican effort to reach out to the Democrat party.
“Their counterproposal to fund the government was 1.5 trillion dollars in new spending,” Johnson said.
“They wanted to claw back the elimination of fraud, waste and abuse that we took out of Medicaid to make it work better,” Johnson explained.
Speaker Johnson also revealed on Fox News that the Democrats will likely keep the government shut down for more than another week until after a scheduled “No Kings” protest against the Trump Administration on October 18.
