WATCH: Democrat Rep. Meeks Causes Hearing to Go Off the Rails With a MASSIVE Meltdown After Scott Bessent Refuses to Fall for His Gotcha Question

A hearing in the House went off the rails today, thanks to a left-wing House Democrat who entered the running for meltdown of the year after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent cleverly refused to play his game.

As PBS reported, Bessent is testifying before the House Financial Services Committee to deliver the annual report from the Financial Stability Oversight Council. The Hill notes that this report is tasked with identifying and responding to economic risks.

But Rep. Gregory Meeks decided to badger Bessent by demanding a “yes or no” answer to a gotcha question from him, thinking he would be able to pit the Treasury Secretary against President Trump.

Meeks wanted to know whether Bessent would halt the bank charter application of World Liberty Financial, a crypto company with some ties to Trump.

But when Bessent refused to play his game and attempted to give a more detailed answer, Meeks started screaming at him for not doing his job and avoiding the question.

When Committee Chairman French Hill (R-AR) interjected and told Meeks his time had expired, the exasperated New York Democrat immediately started making excuses.

Hill kept his calm and attempted to move on to another congressperson. But Meeks then started yelling at Hill for several seconds, accusing him of being Trump’s “flunky” and covering for the president.

HILL: Gentleman’s time has expired.

MEEKS: He didn’t answer my question. He didn’t pass the time.

HILL: He had six seconds left to try to answer your question.

MEEKS: It was a yes-or-no…It was a yes-or-no answer. Will he? Yes or no?!

MEEKS: Stop covering for the president! Stop being his flunky!

Stop covering for the president! Don’t be a flunky! Work for the American people!
