If you’re like us, then the pandemic has you dreaming of absconding to a quaint, woodland retreat or building your own micro cabin in a secluded locale. The tiny cabins below—some of which are for rent—are destined for your vision board.
Woodlands Hideout
Though this 190-square-foot hideaway is a solo retreat, the act of creating it proved to be uniting, not isolating, for Rico Castillero and Duane Reed. The pair did everything but the plumbing with their own two hands. "To say it was a learning experience was an understatement," laughs Castillero.
Aska Cabin
Depending on the time of year, Aska can serve as an idyllic setting to enjoy the Northern Lights.

If you’ve ever dreamed of escaping to a secluded corner of Iceland, the Aska Cabin may be of interest. Designed by architects Casper Berntsen and Aldís Gísladóttir of Studio Heima, the wood-clad structure is perched along the active geothermal pocket of Mývatn—a volcanic lake in northern Iceland.
Poisson Blanc Cabin
The cabin is available to rent all year long, and only accessible by foot, skis, and snowshoes. Transport carts or sleds are available to bring in gear.
