Scottsdale’s luxury standout: Realtor Nicole Demas on rising to the top and lifting others along the way

In just six years, Scottsdale, Arizona, Realtor Nicole Demas has built a name recognized across the state’s luxury market — and beyond.

In 2024, the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Arizona Properties agent recorded $13.3 million in sales volume across 13 transactions, earning her a place on the RealTrends Verified 2025 City Rankings list.

With 344 agents working in the market, Scottsdale tied for No. 2 in RealTrends’ recently released city rankings.

Her success, however, isn’t just about numbers.

In the midst of a fast-paced career, Demas has become a vocal advocate for women’s health — especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month — using her personal story to empower others to seek prevention measures.

People-first mindset

Before real estate, Demas spent years in the hospitality industry, a career that she says taught her the most essential skill of all — how to treat people.

“I have always had intuition and just a genuine ability to connect with people,” she said. “So, I think I wanted to go down a career path where those strengths could truly make an impact. Real estate was the perfect fit — I like homes, design and helping people through milestones in their lives.”

That people-first mindset has carried her from her early open houses to multimillion-dollar listings.

Her philosophy, she said, comes down to what she calls her “three C’s” — consistency, connection and care.

“I stay pretty committed to my clients, whether they’re buying or selling, because it is such a big process,” Demas said. “Guiding them with honesty, care and commitment every step of the way is key.”

Secrets to success

Demas says her quick success has less to do with luck and more to do with discipline.

“Two words — consistency and authenticity — have always been key for me,” she said. “This business is built on relationships and trust. I focus on showing up every day, learning as much as I can and genuinely caring about my clients. The success follows from that.”

She adds that her support system keeps her grounded; her husband, her two-year-old daughter and a close circle of peers.

“I like to believe my daughter is my biggest fan,” she said with a laugh. “She doesn’t know it yet, but she is.”

Balance, she emphasized, is critical to staying motivated.

“Sometimes it’s a lot harder than others, but I do my best to stay consistent with my work-life balance,” Demas said. “Having people in your corner keeps you focused and motivated.”

Scottsdale’s market, affordability challenges

Demas specializes in the Scottsdale luxury market, which she said remains relatively strong despite shifts in inventory and affordability concerns.

“Scottsdale is one of the most livable cities in the country,” she said. “We’re still seeing continuous movement here, and we’ve had more inventory than in 2024. Out-of-state buyers continue to drive stabilization and growth.”

But she’s candid about the city’s affordability issues.

“The median house price is tough for first-time buyers,” she said. “That’s made our rental market very strong, but purchasing is harder with interest rates where they are. I think we’re headed toward a healthier equilibrium on price growth and more choice for buyers, but affordability is still our biggest struggle.”

Demas added that nearby Arizona communities like Chandler and Gilbert are seeing strong growth as buyers look for more attainable options.

Arizona water hurdles

Asked about Arizona’s ongoing water concerns, Demas said media coverage sometimes paints an exaggerated picture.

“The media has definitely heightened that a lot,” she said. “There are certain towns that have to work out their water situation, but that’s not the case for all of us. I’m in Scottsdale proper, which is on city services.”

She pointed to nearby Rio Verde, where wells and hauled water sparked much of the public conversation.

“It’s created this phenomenon of people thinking Arizona is running out of water — which really isn’t true for most of us,” she said. “Awareness and education for buyers and sellers are huge on the water situation.”

Turning pain Into purpose

Behind her professional success lies a deeply personal story.

After losing her mother to breast cancer at 19, Demas learned she carried a BRCA gene variant — one associated with a higher risk of breast and ovarian cancers.

“I’ve been on the path of early detection for years,” she said. “Watching what my mom went through pretty much my entire life opened my eyes to how early detection and regular screenings can make such a huge difference.”

In March 2025, Demas made the decision to undergo a preventative double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction — a decision she calls the best of her life.

“Strength isn’t just about pushing through it,” she said. “It’s about slowing down and letting people support you through it.”

Her twin sister followed suit shortly after. Together, they’ve become advocates for awareness and prevention.

“So many people are scared to go to the doctor,” Demas said. “For me, empowerment came from making the decision on my own — not waiting until it was too late. It wasn’t if, it was when. And it was the most empowering feeling ever.”

Now, Demas uses her platform as a Realtor and mother to raise awareness about genetic testing and preventive health care.

“Women in our industry are always on the go,” she said. “We take care of everyone else. But sometimes, we need to take a step back and take care of ourselves.”

Her journey, she says, has reshaped her outlook on both health and business.

“Mindset is everything. Empowerment is everything,” she said. “That’s what I want other women to feel — in their health, their homes, and their lives.”
