Project Details:
Location: Calicut, Kerala, India
Architect: Studioarch + Partners
Photographer: Justin Sebastian
From the Architect: "The Next Door Project is a combination of quirky curves and solid colors fused harmoniously to create a bright and lively interior space. The layout of the apartment is broken and rearranged to form a free flowing central axes. This axial arrangement paves way for a hyperconnected space. The spaces are defined with fractionated arches, curves, and lines.
"The living area is expanded toward the balcony to express grandeur with a cozy L-shaped sofa facing the TV wall. The wood paneling and TV console are finished in a mix of tiffany-blue and arched checkered wooden planes. Arches inside the wall paneling are enhanced by a minimal artwork in pastel, which in turn acts as a backdrop for the dark leather sofa. The semiprivate spaces are set in open format with accents from wall art and a refreshing terrazzo flooring.
"The project is an ode to classical design by reinventing it in conventional methodologies."
