The problem is that sometimes Apple smartwatches do not deliver what is needed. I would not mind paying 1,000 USD or even more for the Apple Watch Ultra 3 if it had: 

• Standalone. No need of any standard smartphone. 
• Built-in camera 
• Web browser 
• Plastic instead of metal: better antenna reception, half weight, less cold or hot temperature feelings (conductivity).
