The RBI rejected Tata Sons’ deregistration application on September 11, bringing the holding company of the Tata Group closer to a stock market listing.
Tata Sons is the biggest holding company in the entire Tata Group, and the direct and indirect stakes in all the Tata Group companies sit under Tata Sons.
If the IPO comes, seven listed Tata companies will benefit, These seven companies together hold around 11.5% to 12% stake.
Tata Steel has 3%, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles 3%, Tata Chemicals 2.5%, Tata Power 1.65%, and Indian Hotels 1.1%.
Apart from that, Tata Consumer and Tata Investment Corporation
also hold a small stake, and obviously if the IPO comes, these are the ones that will have to reduce their holdings a bit.
Shapoorji Pallonji Group hold around an 18.5% stake in Tata Sons. Shapoorji Pallonji already wants to sell its stake, then if the listing happens, it will definitely sell, and Effcons could benefit indirectly from that.
