- The presidential campaign between Trump and DeSantis has been heated.
- On Saturday, a Trump spokeswoman took jabs at DeSantis for his political ambitions.
- She also dragged Pete Buttigieg into the crosshairs while using a photo of his military service.
A spokeswoman for former President Donald Trump appeared to mock Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg's military service during a spat against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
On Saturday, Trump spokeswoman Liz Harrington tweeted a clip of her criticizing DeSantis' political ambitions.
"Ron 'Dee-Santis' has run for 4 different offices in the past 7 years. That's not someone who's in it for the country, it's someone who's in it for himself," Harrington said in a tweet.

In response, the Twitter account DeSantis War Room replied with images of the DeSantis' time in service. DeSantis was deployed to Iraq in 2007, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The reply may have been a jab at Trump, who avoided the military draft during the Vietnam War.

Harrington hit back, responding with a photo of Buttigieg in his army uniform. Buttigieg was in the US Navy Reserve from 2009 and was honorably discharged in 2017. After being elected mayor of South Bend, Indiana, he took a seventh-month leave of office in 2014 to serve in Afghanistan.

The apparent attacks came during Memorial Day weekend, and Twitter users took notice, slamming Harrington for disparaging the DeSantis and Buttigieg service.
"Attacking anyone with a picture in their military uniform on Memorial Day weekend is pretty cringe. Democrat or not," one user replied.

"You call this winning? Attacking a good politician who is a vet by posting a picture of a bad politician who is a vet proves what exactly?" wrote another. "Most vets are good Americans, that has nothing to do with political positions. Vets can be right or wrong on political positions."
The Trump and DeSantis campaigns, and the Department of Transportation, didn't immediately return Insider's emails seeking comment.
Emailed the Trump campaign, DeSantis campaign, and Dot for comment
