What do you do?

We are Data Protection specialists focussed on the accountancy sector. We have gained detailed knowledge from a wide variety of businesses in the sector including software vendors in this space. We understand the needs of an accounting business and how data must be processed. We have worked tirelessly to hep accounting businesses understand what needs to be done. Too many believe that GDPR templates, for example, are compliance. However, simply adding your name to documents does not prove privacy and security by design and by default. Assessing the age of data and the legal basis for processing cannot be achieved with templates either. A template won’t assess risk, we will.

How did you get started?

We began in early 2018 following a career in cyber security and privacy management. We set out to help small and medium business owners to comply with regulation as well as improve their privacy practices. In turn, we give accountants the opportunity to add value to their clients by giving them a service they can in turn offer to their clients to help protect them from harm and non-compliance. This represents a further margin opportunity for accountancy practices, with potential for recurring revenues. We don’t just offer services around GDPR and the Data Protection Act, we can also help with the government backed cyber security scheme, Cyber Essentials, which comes with Cyber Insurance. The scheme is proven to reduce threats by 70% and is strongly recommended to business of all types and sizes.

Additionally, for businesses taking credit card payments we can assist with accreditation to the PCI DSS.

What are you looking forward to most about ACX?

It is always a vibrant and energised show, and the team are looking forward to being at the show. We look forward to having varied conversations and hearing of the challenges that face accounting firms and their clients.
